Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Cardiac Med Intermediate (Telemetry) position on night shift at a Level 1 Trauma and Burn Center in Springfield, MO, requiring a minimum of 1 year of cardiac telemetry experience and an active MO or compact RN license.

Details

  • Cardiac Med Intermediate Unit 4B in a large acute care hospital setting, a Level 1 Trauma & Burn Center and Level 2 Stroke Center
  • 31-bed unit serving cardiac and med/surg patient populations
  • Night shift: 1900–0700
  • 13-week contract
  • Patient ratios vary: days 1:5–1:6, nights 1:6–1:8 (estimates only)
  • Equipment includes Alaris pumps, telemetry monitors, and lift equipment
  • EMR: Epic (experience required)
  • Floating on a rotational basis required
  • Weekends required as per facility needs
  • No on-call requirements

Requirements

  • Active RN license — must meet eligibility criteria for Missouri licensure or hold a current MO or compact state RN license
  • Current BLS certification from AHA required
  • NIHSS certification required prior to start (may be considered without it if obtained before start date)
  • ACLS from AHA preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of recent inpatient cardiac telemetry experience required
  • Experience and demonstrated competence in drug titration required
  • No employment gaps of 90+ days within the past 12 months
  • Valid U.S. Social Security Number required (Canadian SINs not accepted)

Additional Information

  • Responsibilities include performing direct patient care for all age groups, encompassing assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care
  • Monitors and coordinates patient care activities with ancillary departments to optimize patient outcomes
  • Physical demands include standing and walking for most of the shift, significant bending, stooping, lifting, and turning patients with assistance; ability to push, pull, and grip up to 50 lbs. and pinch up to 15 lbs.
  • High-risk exposure to blood and body fluids
  • Black scrubs required; torn clothing, open-toed shoes, and non-scrub attire are not permitted
  • Night shift orientation is conducted on day shift; candidates must be available for the full orientation week
  • RTO of up to 5 days is allowed but must be made up during the assignment; no RTO approved in the first week, and only 1 holiday RTO request permitted per assignment
  • Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are eligible but should be aware that local candidates are subject to a reduced bill rate
  • Flu vaccination or a Mercy-approved exemption is required from November 1 through April 1; declinations are not accepted
  • Certifications must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment unless documented renewal is scheduled
