Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position in Richmond, VA, requiring at least 2 years of labor experience and active VA or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Work in a 24-bed Maternal Infant Unit (L&D) located on the 3rd floor of the Atrium building
• Unit staffed by labor nurses, nursery nurses, OB techs, secretaries, leadership, and educators on day shift
• Patient ratios: 1:1 for labor (most of the time), 5-6:1 for postpartum, and 5-6:1 for nursery
• Procedures include vaginal deliveries, C-sections, antepartum care, newborn care, and postpartum care
• GE fetal monitors used on unit
• EMR system: Meditech CPN
• Day shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM (12-hour shifts)
• Every third weekend required
• 12 hours of on-call per 4-week schedule

Requirements

• Active VA or compact RN license required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP (Advanced 9th Edition, AAP card), and AWHONN Fetal Monitoring (Intermediate or Advanced) or NCCEFM
• Certifications must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start
• Minimum 2 years of recent labor experience required
• Experience in an LDRP setting with high birth volumes is preferred
• US SSN and DOB required for consideration — no Canadian SSNs accepted
• One professional reference required (two required if licensed in Florida or Missouri)
• No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include caring for laboring, antepartum, postpartum, and newborn patients
• Navy blue scrubs required; MIU nurses wear pink badges for infant security
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
• AHA or ARC certifications are accepted
