Description

American Traveler is seeking a travel RN for a Med/Surg position in an acute care hospital setting, requiring at least 2 years of experience and the ability to rotate between day and night shifts.

Details

• Acute care hospital Med/Surg unit (6N Overflow) with 30 beds
• Common diagnoses include CHF, COPD, cellulitis, pneumonia, urosepsis, AKI, cholecystitis, and appendicitis
• Patient ratio of 1:6-7; candidates must be comfortable with a ratio of up to 1:7
• Telemetry is available on the unit and monitored remotely by monitor techs
• Intermittent BiPAP used; no ventilators on the unit
• RNs are required to titrate heparin drips based on aPTT results
• PCTs are available on the unit to support nursing staff
• One charge RN is on the floor and also carries a patient assignment
• 12-hour day/night rotating shifts, with weekends scheduled as needed (typically every other weekend)
• No on-call or standby requirement
• Travelers are the first to float based on census
• EMR: Epic
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active WV or Compact RN license required
• Current certifications required: BLS (AHA) and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Comfortable with patient ratios up to 1:7
• Experience with Epic EMR
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this travel position
• A copy of an unexpired driver's license is required for consideration
• Any licensing history (hits) must be disclosed upfront

Additional Information

• Scheduling is transitioning to the Qgenda platform
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Candidates who have previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a 2-year break before applying; cumulative time worked within the WVU system also applies — travelers may not work within WVU Medicine for more than one year total without a 2-year break
• Two professional references are required for consideration: one supervisor reference and one peer or additional supervisor reference (e.g., Charge RN)
• Skills checklist completed within the past year is required for consideration
• Copies of all relevant certifications are required for consideration
