Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele night shift position at an acute care hospital in Columbia, SC, requiring a minimum of 2 years of MS/Tele experience and an active SC or compact RN license.

• 304-bed acute care hospital setting
• Med/Surg Telemetry unit
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7p–7a
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• Every other weekend required
• On-call is required but rare; if called, the on-call commitment is for the first 4 hours
• Floating within scope to similar units or sister facilities may be required based on facility needs
• Charting performed in Epic (experience required)

Requirements

• Active SC RN license or multi-state compact RN license — candidates with a pending SC license may be considered, but must be fully licensed before starting
• Current AHA certifications: BLS and ACLS required; NIHSS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of MS/Tele RN experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• SSN and valid Driver's License required for consideration
• 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration

• Candidates who have previously worked as permanent staff or PRN at any MUSC facility must have been separated from the system for at least 1 year before being eligible to work as a traveler

• Orientation modules are completed prior to the start date
• All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted upfront; approval is based on facility needs
• Local candidates (within 60 miles of the facility) may be considered on a case-by-case basis; non-local candidates are prioritized
• Free parking is available via a parking pass distributed at badge pickup; downtown parking lots and garages are available, though garages have clearance limitations for larger vehicles
• Travelers should be aware that during hurricane season (June–November), all staff and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams; peak months are August and September
