Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring the ability to flex between L&D and Mother Baby, with night shift and every other weekend availability.

Details

• Level 1 OB unit with 18 LDRP beds, 4 triage beds, and 2 ORs
• Approximately 60–65 deliveries per month (650+ annually)
• Patient ratios are 1:1 or 1:2 based on acuity
• Ancillary support includes a unit secretary, OB techs, and LPNs depending on census and availability
• 24/7 in-house OB/GYN and CRNA coverage; neonatal care supported by neonatal nurse practitioners
• Nurses are expected to circulate and recover C-sections; scrubbing is a bonus but not required
• EMR: Epic (preferred); Obix used for fetal tracings; GE monitors used for fetal monitoring
• Schedule: 12-hour nights, every other weekend, every other holiday
• Ability to flex between L&D and Mother Baby units is required
• Local candidates are accepted (local pay rate applies)

Requirements

• Active OH RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
• BLS required prior to direct patient care
• NRP required (preferred upon hire; must obtain within 6 months)
• ACLS preferred
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Recent OB, ED, or critical care experience preferred
• Epic EHR experience preferred
• Proof of address required for consideration (acceptable documents: driver's license, voter registration card, federal tax return, Military Form 2058, or W2 from US government)
• Full SSN and DOB required for consideration
• 1 supervisory reference required
• Nursys license verification required
• Copies of all certifications required

Additional Information

• A pass/fail EKG exam is required on the first day, with two attempts allowed; a study guide will be provided
• Scrubs are provided on the unit
• A manager interview is required as part of the selection process
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for the travel pay rate
• Responsibilities include electronic fetal monitoring, conducting vaginal exams, caring for the mother/fetal dyad, resuscitation and stabilization, breastfeeding support and education, and discharge teaching and planning
• Work environment may include periods of high stress, fluctuating workloads, exposure to body fluids, and high noise levels; universal precautions and PPE are required
• Position requires moderate to frequent lifting, carrying, and pushing/pulling up to 100 lbs, as well as prolonged standing, walking, and bending
