Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Cardiology position on a night shift schedule, requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience and an active AL or compact RN license.
Details
- Located on the 2 West floor of a 595-bed acute care hospital in Birmingham, AL
- Observation/Step-Down unit with 30 beds and a 1:6 patient ratio
- Patient population includes pre- and post-heart cath, general cardiology (chest pain, hypertension), and med/surg patients
- Charting is done in Cerner EMR
- Night shift: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM, 3x12 schedule
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call requirements
- Travelers are first to float, within scope, including to affiliated facilities within a 25-mile radius
Requirements
- Active AL or compact RN license required and must be in hand at time of consideration
- BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required — American Red Cross is not accepted
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification from AHA required
- Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg experience required; cardiology experience preferred
- Certifications must not be expired or expiring within 30 days of start date
- Candidate's SSN and DOB required for consideration

- Facility holds Primary Stroke Center certification and Get With the Guidelines® Gold Plus Achievement in Stroke from the American Heart Association
