Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a General Surgery Med/Surg position in St. Louis, MO, requiring at least 1 year of inpatient Med/Surg experience and an active MO or compact RN license.

Details

• Work in a 30-bed General Surgery unit within a hospital setting
• Patient population includes surgical cases: GI, GU, Plastics, and overflow Ortho
• Day shift, 0700–1930
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirements
• Patient ratios are 1:5–6 on day shift and 1:6–7 on night shift
• Equipment used includes Alaris IV pumps, Kangaroo enteral feeding pumps, wound vacs, SCD machines, PCA pumps, low air loss mattresses, and remote telemetry monitors
• EMR: Epic
• Floating to other units may be required based on staffing needs
• 13-week assignment

Requirements

• Active RN license in Missouri or eligibility for MO licensure (MO or compact license required)
• Current BLS certification from AHA required
• ACLS from AHA and TNCC preferred
• Minimum 1 year of recent inpatient Med/Surg experience required
• No employment gaps of 90+ days within the past 12 months
• A valid U.S. Social Security Number is required; Canadian SINs are not accepted
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, lift, and turn patients with assistance; push, pull, and grip up to 50 lbs.; pinch up to 15 lbs.

Additional Information

• Responsible for direct patient care including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation across all age groups
• Coordinates patient care activities with ancillary departments to optimize outcomes
• Flu vaccination (or Mercy-approved exemption) is required for all travelers from November 1 through April 1; declinations are not accepted
• Black scrubs (Mercy M Wear) are required; no other attire is acceptable
• RTO of up to 5 days is allowed but must be made up during the assignment; only 1 holiday RTO request is permitted per assignment
• Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are eligible but subject to a reduced bill rate; candidates in this radius are limited to 3 consecutive 13-week contracts before requiring a separation period or transfer
• The facility has earned a Level 2 Trauma Center designation, is a Joint Commission Comprehensive Stroke Center, and holds a Level 1 STEMI Center designation
