Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a float-pool ICU position at a Level 1 Trauma, academic teaching hospital in Macon, GA, requiring at least 2 years of ICU experience and the ability to float across multiple critical care units.
Details
- 12-hour night shifts, 7P–7A, 36 hours per week
- Position functions in a float pool capacity across multiple ICU units on the main campus, including CCU, MICU, NICU, CVICU, STICU, and PCU (step-down)
- Each ICU unit contains 10–20 beds
- ICU patient ratios are 1:1–2; PCU patient ratios are 1:3–4
- Patient populations span critical care specialties including cardiac, medical, surgical/trauma, neuro, and cardiovascular
- Common drips include insulin, heparin, narcotics, paralytics, vasopressors, sedation, and cardiac drips
- Required skills include trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, and glucometer use
- EMR: Epic (experience required)
- Equipment includes Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, Philips monitors, and Nova Glucose Stat Strips
- Weekend rotation: 5–6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling cycle
- No on-call or call-back requirements
- Holiday coverage: travelers are expected to work one shift of each major holiday (Thanksgiving or day after, 12/24 or 12/25, and 12/31 or 1/1)
Requirements
- Active GA or Compact RN license currently in hand
- Required certifications: BLS and ACLS
- CCRN preferred
- Minimum 2 years of ICU RN experience required
- Level 1 Trauma and academic teaching hospital experience preferred
- Must pass an EKG competency exam during onboarding
- Epic EMR experience required
- 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
Additional Information
- Level 1 Trauma Center, academic teaching hospital, Chest Pain Center, and Stroke Center
- Unit support includes CNAs, a unit secretary (on-unit 7A–11P, house-wide after), free-floating charge nurse, PICC team, resource nurses, and 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage
- Orientation consists of 1 day of general onboarding with educational modules followed by 2 days of departmental orientation
- RTO requests must be submitted through and approved by the manager
- Scrub color requirement: Navy for RNs
- Unit culture is described as busy and team-oriented
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates are accepted — no radius rule applies and the same rate is offered regardless of distance from the facility
- Candidates previously employed in a permanent position at an AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year to be eligible
