Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry float pool position at a Level 1 Trauma, academic teaching hospital in Georgia, requiring a minimum of 2 years of Med/Tele RN experience.
Details
- Inpatient Med/Surg Telemetry units within a 637-licensed-bed, Level 1 Trauma designated academic teaching hospital that includes a Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center
- Individual Med/Surg units range from 20–36 beds per unit
- Patient population includes acute and chronic disease, common comorbidities (diabetes, hypertension, infections, electrolyte imbalances), cardiac cases (post-cath, CHF, a-fib), and post-surgical patients (general, ortho, trauma)
- RN-to-patient ratio of 1:4–6, supported by LPN and CNA staff
- Required telemetry skills include monitoring and interpreting cardiac rhythms, post-cath care, TR band management, and groin site management (no sheath pulls)
- Required drip management includes insulin, heparin, Cardizem, amiodarone, milrinone, Digoxin, and nicardipine; titration for HR only (not BP)
- EMR: Epic (experience preferred)
- IV pumps: Alaris; medication dispensing: Pyxis; monitors: Philips; VS3 vital sign monitors and Nova Glucose Stat Strips also in use
- 12-hour shifts available on both day (7A–7P) and night (7P–7A) rotations
- Weekend rotation of approximately 5–6 shifts per 6-week schedule cycle
- No on-call or call-back requirements
- Travelers will be assigned to a float pool and required to float to all Med/Surg Telemetry units as needed
Requirements
- Active GA or Compact RN license required
- BLS required; ACLS preferred (EKG competency exam required during onboarding regardless)
- Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg Telemetry RN experience required
- Med/Surg certification is a plus
- Required skills include trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts and IV maintenance, glucommander, cardiac rhythm interpretation, post-cath and groin site management, and drip titration
- Strong assessment, time management, care coordination, discharge planning, and patient education skills required
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
- Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
Additional Information
- Provide nursing care to a diverse Med/Surg Telemetry patient population across multiple inpatient units in a float pool capacity
- Departmental support includes CNAs (vitals, glucose checks, ADLs, patient safety), unit secretary (on-unit 7A–11P, house-wide after), charge nurse, PICC team, discharge nurses, resource team, central telemetry monitoring, and 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage
- Orientation consists of 1 day of facility-wide orientation with educational modules followed by 2 days of departmental orientation
- Holiday coverage expectation: one shift per major holiday grouping (Thanksgiving Day or day after; 12/24 or 12/25; 12/31 or 1/1)
- All time-off requests must be submitted through and approved by the unit manager
- RN scrub color: Navy

- Unit culture is described as busy and team-oriented
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates who have worked a permanent position at an AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year to be eligible
- Local candidates in Georgia are accepted; no radius rule applies and the same rate applies to local travelers
