Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position on a 42-bed Medical Respiratory Unit, requiring a valid AL or compact RN license and at least 2 years of nursing experience.

Details

Night shift position: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
13-week contract
42-bed Medical Respiratory Unit (7 North) with an adjacent 8-bed respiratory step-down unit
Primary patient population includes acute and chronic respiratory conditions: pneumonia, shortness of breath, COPD, and other lung diseases; also serves medical patients with GI issues, diabetes, and occasional stroke and surgical cases
Standard nursing ratio of 1:6; step-down nursing ratio of 1:4
Daily interdisciplinary team rounds
EMR: Meditech (experience not required)
Every other weekend required
Holiday coverage required
Floating to other units and hospitals required
36 or 48 hours per week available

Requirements

Active AL state or compact RN license required — no pending or temporary licenses accepted
No prior or current hits on nursing license
AHA BLS or Red Cross BLS certification required
Associate degree in nursing (ADN) or higher required
Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required; candidates with at least 18 months may be considered
At least 1 year of recent experience in Med/Surg Telemetry or respiratory specialty required
Current driver's license required for consideration
Two professional references from within the last year required for consideration
NURSYS license verification required for consideration

Additional Information

Provides care to respiratory and general medical patients in collaboration with a daily interdisciplinary team
No pre-start HealthStream modules required; virtual orientation will include competency-based modules
Solid navy scrubs required
Local candidates are accepted at the same rate with no radius restrictions
Timekeeping system: Centricity
A cardiac exam will be assigned upon offer acceptance
