Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position on a 4 West Surgical unit in Birmingham, AL, requiring 2+ years of post-operative care experience and night shift availability.

Details

  • Night shift position: 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM, 3x12 schedule
  • 42-bed surgical unit serving post-operative and medical overflow patients, including ortho, neuro, and general surgery cases
  • Patient ratio of 5-6:1
  • Equipment includes Alaris infusion pumps and Omnicell medication dispensing systems
  • EMR: Epic
  • Every other weekend required
  • No on-call requirements
  • Occasional floating to like units within scope, including other Orlando Health facilities within a 25-mile radius

Requirements

  • Active AL RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
  • Current BLS certification (AHA only — American Red Cross not accepted)
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required (AHA only)
  • Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg or acute care RN experience
  • Experience with post-operative assessments, pain management, and wound and drain care
  • SSN and DOB required for consideration

  • Responsible for post-operative assessments, pain management, and wound and drain care for surgical and medical overflow patients
  • Scrub color: Navy blue; fleece is not permitted
