Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring AWHONN Advanced certification and availability for overnight shifts with every other weekend coverage.

Details

• Labor & Delivery unit within a hospital setting
• High-risk antepartum and LDRP patient population, including complex obstetric cases
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
• Every other weekend required
• Floating to Postpartum may be required
• No on-call responsibilities

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, and NRP
• Demonstrated experience in Labor & Delivery, high-risk antepartum, triage, and couplet care
• Proficiency with external and internal fetal monitoring, IUPC placement and calibration, and recognition and treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
• Experience managing high-acuity obstetric conditions including pre-eclampsia/eclampsia, HELLP Syndrome, placenta previa/abruptio, preterm labor, VBAC, and uterine rupture
• Skills in administering obstetric medications including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, antihypertensives, anticoagulants, anticonvulsants, insulin drips, prostaglandins, and terbutaline
• Experience circulating and scrubbing for C-sections, assisting with vaginal and high-risk deliveries, and recovering post-cesarean patients
• Neonatal resuscitation skills and experience with newborn assessment, neonatal abstinence syndrome, phototherapy, and hypoglycemia management
• Experience with anesthesia modalities including epidural, general, IV conscious sedation, nitrous oxide, opioids, and PCA management
• Ability to perform sterile vaginal exams, speculum exams, foley catheter insertion, IV placement, venous blood draws, and administration of blood products
• 2 professional supervisory references from within the past 2 years required for consideration
• Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include comprehensive intrapartum and postpartum care, neonatal resuscitation, breastfeeding and lactation support, discharge teaching, and couplet care
• Additional skills include amnioinfusion, forceps/vacuum extraction assistance, hemorrhage/shock management, tubal ligation assistance, and wound assessment
• Familiarity with baby-friendly protocols, isolation precautions/PPE, vaccine administration, and thermoregulation required
