Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Float Pool PCU position requiring 2 years of recent specialty experience, active KS/MO or compact licensure, and flexibility to float across multiple Med/Surg and PCU units at various metro campuses.

Details

  • Float pool position — will not be assigned a home unit; floats between approximately 5 Med/Surg Intermediate/PCU departments across multiple metro campuses as needed
  • Patient ratio of 1:5
  • Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
  • 8 weekend shifts required per 6-week scheduling period, with shifts falling on any combination of Friday, Saturday, or Sunday
  • Patient population includes cardiac telemetry, neuro stepdown, and Med/Surg intermediate cases
  • Conditions and case types include pre/post cardiac cath, sepsis, wound care, ETOH, SI, renal failure, AFib, GIB, stroke, COVID, and dysrhythmia management
  • Required equipment and technology: Virtual Nurses, 12-lead EKG, AirVo, Voalte, Omnicell
  • No on-call requirements
  • Block scheduling not available

Requirements

  • Active RN license in both Kansas and Missouri, or a compact RN license, must be in hand at time of consideration — willingness to float between campuses in both states is required
  • Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required; ACLS preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of recent PCU/telemetry specialty experience required, including at least 1 full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months with no employment gap greater than 90 days
  • Required clinical skills: telemetry interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, cardiac monitoring, and on-unit telemetry monitoring
  • Experience with pre/post cardiac cath, sepsis protocol, stroke care, and cardiac telemetry monitoring required
  • Preferred skills include sheath removal, feeding tube care and management, port access, blood product administration, and central line care/management
  • 2 professional references required: at least one must be supervisor-level or above; the second may be a charge RN — all references must be from someone who has worked with the candidate within the past year

Additional Information

  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Candidates residing within a 50-mile radius of the facility are considered local and are not eligible for this position
  • Travel partners are not accepted for this assignment
  • RTO is capped at 7 days for the duration of the contract
  • Charge RN assignments may be required as needed by the unit
  • Holiday shift coverage is required as assigned
  • Completion of online compliance modules (approximately 10–15 hours total) is required prior to the start of the assignment
  • Drug screening is required; a diluted or positive result that cannot be cleared will result in assignment cancellation and a 6-month waiting period before reapplication
