Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an IMC/IICU (Intermediate Intensive Care) position at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-recognized teaching hospital in Columbia, SC, requiring critical care experience and active Epic proficiency.

Details

  • Work in the Intermediate/Progressive Care Unit (IMC/IICU) of a 641-bed, Magnet-recognized regional community teaching medical center and Level I Adult / Level II Pediatric Trauma Center in Columbia, SC
  • Adult patient population includes trauma, medical, surgical, and neurology cases requiring monitoring or interventions every 1–2 hours
  • Unit receives direct admissions, ICU transfers, and escalations from Rapid Response Teams
  • Patient ratio of 1:3
  • Specialized equipment includes Hercules patient re-positioners, ceiling lifts, and Airtaps
  • Charting performed in Epic EMR
  • Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30
  • Six weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule period
  • Floating to other units or campuses is required for agency staff; floating is limited to areas where documented competencies exist

Requirements

  • Active SC or compact (multistate) RN license — no pending licenses accepted
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience with at least 1 completed travel assignment; first-time travelers must have a minimum of 3 years of specialty experience with critical care background
  • Prior ICU or IICU experience required, with patient acuity of at least 1:3; progressive care settings (PCU, DOU, IMC, or Stepdown) may be considered based on acuity
  • Ventilator experience required
  • Proficiency in cardiac monitoring, telemetry interpretation, dysrhythmia management, and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
  • Minimum 1 year of Epic EMR experience required
  • Must reside more than 50 miles from the contracted campus (Prisma Health Richland) to be eligible for this night shift position
  • Two professional references required for consideration
  • Valid driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide intermediate-level critical care to a high-acuity adult population including trauma, surgical, medical, and neurology patients
  • Hospital is the only Level I Adult and Level II Pediatric Trauma Center in the Midlands region and features advanced cardiac, stroke, and vascular programs
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply, provided they have 3+ years of experience within the specialty and critical care background
  • Candidates residing 50–99.9 miles from the facility may be accepted at a reduced rate; candidates 100+ miles away are eligible at the full travel rate
  • All time-off requests must be submitted at the time of application; requests are not guaranteed and are subject to facility approval
