Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position at a comprehensive cancer center, requiring a minimum of 2 years of high-acuity Med/Surg Tele experience and oncology unit float capability.
Details
- Work setting is a large comprehensive cancer center with 318 acute care beds across specialized inpatient oncology units of 36 beds each
- Units are specialized by cancer diagnosis, with floating required across Med/Surg and PCU Oncology units including BMT, Acute Leukemia, Hematology, Medical Oncology, PCU Oncology, Gynecological Oncology, Urology, Colorectal, Surgical Oncology, and Corrections Healthcare
- PCU staffing ratio is 1:3, and may be 1:4 with mixed acuity; Med/Surg Tele ratio is ideally 1:4 but may reach 1:5
- Night shift position, 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30
- If accepting a day/night rotating contract, scheduling may include days, nights, or a combination based on departmental needs, reviewed every 4-week scheduling period
- Weekend scheduling is variable based on unit needs
- Self-scheduling requests are submitted for consideration prior to the final schedule being posted — blocked or set scheduling is not available
Requirements
- Active Ohio (OH) or Compact RN license required
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Minimum 2 years of high-acuity Med/Surg Telemetry experience or higher required
- Oncology experience is preferred but not required
Additional Information
- Strong emphasis on infection prevention protocols and patient fall prevention throughout all units
- Orientation consists of the first week Mon–Fri on day shift, followed by five bedside orientation shifts across weeks 2 and 3, then independent practice
- Previous employees of this health system do not require a 30-day break between assignments to change representation
- 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
- Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration
- All time off and scheduling requests must be submitted at the time of initial consideration
