Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Outpatient Surgery/Same Day Surgery position requiring at least 1 year of OR circulator experience and a GA or compact RN license.
Details
- Outpatient surgery unit in a hospital setting
- Patient population spans pediatrics through geriatrics
- Surgical specialties include retina surgery, total hip/knee replacement, hand surgery, breast oncology, breast reconstruction, ENT, laparoscopic cholecystectomy, hernia repair, and podiatry
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4, with 5 rooms and an average daily census of 18
- EMR: Epic; Pyxis medication dispensing system
- Day shift schedule alternating between 5x8-hour shifts (6:30 AM–3:00 PM) and 4x8-hour shifts (8:30 AM–5:00 PM), totaling 72 hours per two-week pay period
- No weekend requirements
- Floating within the facility and scope of practice on a rare, as-needed basis
- No formal on-call requirement; however, RNs may be expected to stay late based on remaining room volume at end of shift per a structured dot/double-dot system
Requirements
- Active GA RN license or compact RN license required
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum 1 year of OR circulator experience in an intraoperative setting required
- Two supervisory references (manager level or above; charge nurse references not accepted) are highly preferred for consideration
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates are accepted
- Scrubs are provided by the facility
- Candidates undergo a clinical pre-screen review prior to manager consideration
- No schedule change requests or alternate shift requests are permitted
- RTO maximum is 7 days; RTO cannot be requested during the first week of assignment
- RTO blackout period applies during Spring Break (April 4–12)
- Holiday coverage policy: if 1 or 2 major holidays fall within the assignment period, the traveler is expected to work all of them with no holiday RTO; if 3 major holidays fall within the assignment period, the traveler is expected to work 2 of them and may request 1 holiday off for approval
- Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
- Travelers must be away from all facilities within this health system for a full year before returning as a traveler
- Full compliance must be completed on time to avoid a 2-week start date delay due to bi-weekly orientation scheduling
