Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Intermediate Care position on a Cardiothoracic Surgery unit, requiring MA licensure, ACLS, and Epic experience.
Details
- Located in a 550-bed hospital facility
- Unit: Cardiothoracic Surgery Intermediate Care (KM7) — a 32-bed post-operative unit
- Cares for patients following cardiac surgery (CABGs, valve replacements and repairs, complex aortic procedures) as well as thoracic surgery and cardiology patients
- Patients are typically transferred from the ICU on post-operative day one and prepared for discharge as early as post-operative day four
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 3:1–4:1 on days (7a–7:30p) and 4:1–5:1 on nights (7p–7:30a)
- CNA/PCT support: 4 PCTs on 7a–11p and 2 PCTs on 11p–7a
- Unit clerk coverage: 2 unit clerks on 7a–11p; no unit clerk on overnight shift
- Dedicated lead resource nurse available 24/7
- 12-hour rotating shifts covering both days and nights (50% day/50% night): 7a–7:30p and 7p–7:30a
- Every other weekend required
- Uses Epic EMR
Requirements
- Active MA RN license currently in hand
- Current BLS (AHA) and ACLS (AHA) certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Cardiothoracic or intermediate care experience strongly applicable to this role
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive post-operative nursing care to cardiothoracic and thoracic surgery patients, supporting recovery from ICU transfer through discharge planning
- 1 major and 1 minor holiday coverage required
- COVID vaccine and booster required; flu vaccine required during flu season (medical exemptions permitted)
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible — local candidates are not considered for this position
- All previous employees of any Beth Israel Lahey Health (BILH) facility (travel, permanent, or per diem) must have a minimum 6-month break before being considered
