Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced Oncology Nurse Coordinator for an ambulatory cancer center position in Needham, MA, requiring a current MA RN license and a minimum of 2 years of oncology experience.
Details
- Ambulatory oncology setting within a cancer center focused on medical oncology
- Works closely with medical oncology physicians and nurse practitioners to support patient care coordination
- Responsibilities include navigating patients through their cancer journey, coordinating treatment initiation, specialty referrals, imaging and IR procedure scheduling, and oral chemotherapy authorization
- Performs telephone triage and provides patient education on symptom management and chemotherapy preparation
- Manages script renewals and ensures imaging follow-up
- Schedule: 8-hour day shifts, Monday–Friday, 8:30am–5:00pm
- No weekend or on-call requirements based on the standard schedule

Requirements
- Active MA RN license required and must be in hand at time of consideration
- Minimum 2 years of oncology nursing experience required
- Outpatient or ambulatory oncology care coordination experience strongly preferred
- Experience with VNA, Hospice, and DME referrals required
- Experience coordinating referrals to specialists, setting up imaging and IR procedures required
- Experience obtaining authorization for specialty oral chemotherapy drugs required
- Strong telephone triage skills required
- Proficient computer skills and strong organizational and communication skills required
- COVID vaccine (including booster) and flu vaccine required; medical exemptions are accepted
Additional Information
- Serves as the primary point of contact for patients with questions prior to starting chemotherapy
- Provides teaching, symptom management support, and appointment coordination to enhance the overall patient experience
- Orientation is held weekly every Monday, excluding holidays
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates are not accepted for this position
- Previous employees (travel, permanent, or per diem) of any Beth Israel Lahey Health facility must have a 6-month break before being considered
- Interview availability must be provided at time of consideration
- Any time-off requests must be submitted at time of consideration
