Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a day shift ICU Med-Surgical position in Alexandria, LA, caring for a mixed cardiac and medical critical care patient population.

Details

• Hospital-based mixed cardiac and medical ICU setting
• Patient population includes DKA, acute respiratory failure, MIs, CABGs, and ventilator-dependent patients
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is 2:1 for ICU patients and 4:1 for IMCU patients
• Day shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirement
• No floating required
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active RN license in Louisiana or a compact state currently in hand
• BLS certification from AHA required
• ACLS certification from AHA required
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a critical care setting
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for the travel pay rate
• SSN required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provides routine and complex nursing care using the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation
• Administers medications and treatments per protocol while monitoring for side effects and effectiveness
• Addresses complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families
• Documents patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided
• Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, families, and caregivers
• All newly hired RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days
• New hires are precepted by a designated trained staff member with competency validation completed for both organizational entry and Critical Care Department-specific requirements
• BSN is preferred but not required
• New graduates will be considered for this position
• Temp-to-perm conversion is a possibility
