Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an ICU position requiring at least 2 years of experience, ACLS/BLS/NIHSS certifications, and Epic proficiency, working 12-hour night shifts.
Details
- Acute care hospital ICU setting with 16 beds
- Variety of ICU acuity patients including vented patients, BIS scoring, TTM, and occasional IABP
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2, occasionally 1:3
- RNs are required to titrate drips including vasopressors/inotropes, sedatives, heparin, octreotide, and insulin
- eICU support available in 14 of 16 rooms
- Charge nurse present on each shift and takes an assignment; no nurse aides or patient care techs on the unit
- Charting via Epic EMR
- 12-hour night shifts (7p–7a)
- Schedule is managed by a scheduler on a 6-week rotating basis
- Every other weekend required
- Holidays rotate with permanent staff
- Float to PCU or Med/Surg may be required
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active NE state or Compact (NLC) RN license required — pending licenses not accepted
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required — pending certifications not accepted
- Minimum 2 years of ICU RN experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Valid driver's license required for consideration
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility (driver's license used to verify permanent address)
- Candidates may not currently be employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) at any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI or Dignity Health — those previously placed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include managing critically ill patients with titration of vasopressors, sedatives, and other drips, as well as BIS monitoring and TTM protocols
- Orientation consists of classroom training followed by 2 on-unit shifts (24 hours total)
- A pass/fail open-book exam is administered during orientation — a minimum score of 90% is required to continue the contract
- Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas; refusal to comply may result to termination of contract
- Navy blue scrubs required
- RTO of 7 days or fewer per 13-week contract must be requested upfront; additional RTO will not be approved after submission
- The facility is seeking positive, team-oriented nurses who are willing to collaborate and adapt to challenges
