Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Medical-Surgical ICU position in Alexandria, LA, requiring active LA or compact RN licensure and at least 1 year of critical care experience.

Details

• Mixed cardiac and medical ICU setting (Med-Surgical ICU A)
• Patient population includes DKA, acute respiratory failure, MIs, CABGs, and ventilator-dependent patients
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is 2:1 for ICU patients and 4:1 for IMCU patients
• Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirements
• No floating required
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active LA RN license or current compact state RN license required
• BLS certification required (AHA)
• ACLS certification required (AHA)
• Minimum 1 year of critical care experience preferred; new graduates will be considered
• BSN preferred
• All certifications must be current and unexpired
• SSN required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provides routine and complex nursing care using the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation
• Administers medications and treatments per protocol and monitors for side effects and effectiveness
• Addresses complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families
• Documents patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided
• Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, family members, and caregivers
• New hires must attend orientation within the first 30 days and complete both organizational and Critical Care department-specific competency validations
• Temp-to-perm conversion is a possibility
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for travel pay rates
