Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Post Surgical Care Med/Surg Tele position at a Level III Trauma Teaching Hospital in Concord, NC, requiring at least 18 months of Med/Tele experience and night shift availability.

• Post Surgical Care unit within a 457-licensed-bed Level III Trauma Teaching Hospital that is also a Chest Pain Center, Stroke Center of Excellence, and Bariatric Center of Excellence
• 32-bed unit caring for post-surgical patients with diagnoses including small bowel obstructions, general surgeries (colectomy, colon/small bowel resections, nephrectomy, hysterectomy, mastectomy, appendectomy, cholecystectomy, hernia repairs, splenectomy, thyroidectomy), kidney stones, pneumothorax, bariatric surgery, rib fractures, hip fractures, joint replacements, and cellulitis
• RN-to-patient ratio of 1:4–6, with potential surge ratios of 1:7–8
• 12-hour night shifts, 1900–0700, 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend rotation required
• No on-call responsibilities
• EMR: Epic
• IV Pump: BD Alaris | Medication Dispensing: Omnicell | Monitors: Masimo with remote telemetry
• Floating required within Region 1 (Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, and Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH) — candidates not willing to float to all regional facilities should not apply

Requirements

• Active NC RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience, with most recent experience within the last year
• Required clinical skills: trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, NG tubes, ostomy care, drain management, wound care, continuous bladder irrigation, tube feeds, and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
• Must have a permanent address at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
• Candidates who have worked a permanent position at any AHSE facility must be separated for at least 1 year before being considered

Additional Information

• Department support includes NA+ CNAs (4 per shift), a 24/7 charge nurse, 24/7 phlebotomy, an IV/VAT team, a resource nurse (as staffing allows), 24/7 respiratory therapy, 24/7 hospitalist, and 24/7 intensivist coverage
• Remote telemetry monitoring and tech support available
• Orientation includes facility NEO plus 2 days of departmental orientation
• Schedule cycles run every 6 weeks
• Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays
• Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; any missed contracted hours must be made up at the end of the contract
