Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg Tele position at a Level 3 Trauma, 457-bed hospital in Concord, NC, requiring at least 18 months of Med/Tele experience and an active NC or compact RN license.

Details

  • 44-bed Medical/Surgical unit with consistently high census
  • Adult patient population (18+) with diagnoses including respiratory illness, GI illness, sepsis, CHF, diabetes, and behavioral health
  • Patient ratios are 1:4–6 (acuity dependent), with potential surge ratios of 1:7–8
  • 12-hour night shifts, 1845–0700
  • Every other weekend rotation required
  • No on-call or call-back requirements
  • Schedules are set on a 6-week cycle
  • Floating may be required within Region 1, which includes multiple facilities across Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, and Central Division
  • EMR: Epic (experience required)
  • IV pumps: Alaris; medication dispensing: Omnicell; patient monitoring via Patient Safety Net (PSN)
  • Telemetry is monitored remotely by a dedicated monitoring technician

Requirements

  • Active NC or compact RN license required
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Minimum 18 months of Med/Surg Tele RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
  • Proficiency in trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, wound care, and PleurX catheter management required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Strong communication skills and a positive bedside manner required
  • Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
  • A minimum of 1 professional reference dated within the past year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN, is required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Level 3 Trauma facility and designated Stroke Center of Excellence, Bariatric Center of Excellence, and Chest Pain Center
  • CNAs on the unit are trained for foley insertion/removal, PIV removal, oxygen setup, bolus tube feeds, EKG, bladder scan, fingerstick blood sugar, and peripheral blood draws
  • Phlebotomy support available — CNAs handle peripheral sticks; RNs handle central line draws
  • IV/VAT team available for difficult sticks and central line dressing changes
  • Respiratory therapy is assigned to the unit 24/7 and handles all respiratory treatments
  • Hospitalist coverage is available 24/7 with cross-coverage at night; intensivist available 24/7 for consults
  • Unit Secretary is available on day shift only; charge nurse is out of assignment when staffing allows
  • Orientation includes a facility flash orientation with the education team and 2 days of departmental orientation with a preceptor
  • Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays
  • RTO of up to 6 days may be approved, excluding holidays
  • Scrub color: Navy Blue
  • Free parking available in the employee parking deck
  • Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
  • Former permanent employees of any AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being eligible
