Description
American Traveler is hiring an MRI Technologist for an acute care hospital setting, supporting a brand-new mobile MRI unit at a Neuroscience Institute with at least 1 year of experience and ARRT (MR) certification required.
Details
- Acute care hospital setting within a Radiology/MRI department
- Operates as a mobile MRI unit (Rayus) dedicated to a Neuroscience Institute
- Department has 1 MRI scanner
- Common studies include brain, spine, MRA, and body imaging (abdomen, pelvis, chest) as well as MSK (long bone, joints, etc.)
- Average of 14 scans per day
- Siemens MRI equipment is used
- EMR is Epic; PACS is Fuji
- 12-hour day shifts, Wednesday through Friday, 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM
- No weekend, holiday, or on-call requirements
- No floating to other areas required
- Staffing model is 1 MRI Tech supported by 2 Technologist Assistants
- Radiologist is in-house; Radiology Supervisor or Lead Tech is on site
Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year of MRI Technologist experience
- Current BLS (AHA) required
- ARRT (MR) or ARMRIT certification required
- WV MRI license required if applicable
- Experience with IV placement required
- Comfort working as a lone technologist and communicating directly with physicians
- Epic EMR experience preferred
Additional Information
- Perform MRI studies including brain, spine, MRA, body, and MSK imaging for a Neuroscience Institute patient population
- This is a brand-new unit setup — candidates should be prepared to assist with initial unit setup and operations
- Grey scrubs required; scrubs are not provided
- Candidates must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
- Travelers who have previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a 2-year break before being considered
- Travelers may not work within WVU Medicine for longer than one cumulative year without a 2-year break
- Two supervisor/peer references are required for consideration, including 1 supervisor reference and 1 peer or additional supervisor reference
- A skills checklist completed within the past year is required for consideration
- Copies of certifications and a driver's license are required for consideration
- Candidates may only be submitted to one WVU facility at a time
- First-time travelers will be considered

Units are traveler friendly, ratios 1:2 ICU, 1:3 SD, 1:5-6 Floor. Epic charting system, lots of resources and ancillary services available at most times. Easy to reach out to docs, docs are hit and miss on good communication like most places. Usually have float nurses in the ICU units to help out.
Cons
Common to get pulled as a traveler but wont pull ICU to anywhere but other ICU and SD.
