Description

American Traveler is seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist for an outpatient position in Texas, requiring experience with pediatric through geriatric populations and modified barium swallow studies.

Details

• Outpatient setting serving both adult and pediatric populations
• Caseload spans pediatric through geriatric patients with a wide range of communication and swallowing disorders
• Specialized procedures include Modified Barium Swallow (MBS) studies and bedside swallow evaluations
• Altera EMR experience preferred but not required
• Day shift, Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM (5x8-hour shifts)

Requirements

• Current Texas SLP license or eligibility for licensure required (license required if applicable)
• BLS certification required
• MBS certification required
• At least 2 years of experience in speech-language pathology required
• Experience with pediatric through geriatric populations required
• Experience with modified barium swallow studies required
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Travel experience preferred
• 2 supervisory references from within the last 3 years required for consideration

Additional Information

• Treats a broad range of adult disorders including dysphagia, dysarthria, CVA, TBI, tracheostomy, voice, fluency, and laryngectomy
• Treats pediatric disorders including language disorders, autism, developmental delays, fluency, voice, TBI, and birth defects
• Performs and interprets MBS studies and conducts bedside swallow evaluations
• Preferred skills include FEES (Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing), Vital Stim, Passy Muir Valve management, Trach/Vent, and suctioning
• Responsible for evaluation, plan of care development, reassessments, discharge planning, and point-of-service documentation
• Billing competencies include Medicare A, Medicaid, SLP evaluation coding, and concurrent therapy documentation
• The facility conducts its own drug screening upon arrival, which includes marijuana; a positive result is an automatic cancellation with no exceptions, and candidates should avoid any substances including CBD products that could result in a positive screen
• Candidates living within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted for this position
• Previous permanent staff must have been separated for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
• First-time travelers will be considered depending on experience; new grads may be eligible
• Orientation includes completion of required online modules, averaging 6–8 hours
