Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg Tele position at a Level 3 Trauma, Certified Chest Pain and Stroke Center facility in Shelby, NC, requiring at least 18 months of Med/Tele experience and active Epic proficiency.
Details
- Works in a 24-bed Clinical Decision Unit within a 241-licensed-bed, Level 3 Trauma facility that is also a Certified Chest Pain and Stroke Center
- Patient population includes a variety of diagnoses across cardiac, respiratory, and neurological conditions in a fast-paced observation setting
- RN-to-patient ratio is 1:5–6 on both day and night shifts, with potential surge ratios of up to 1:7–8
- CNA support provided at a 1:12 ratio; charge nurse is always available as a resource and may carry a patient assignment
- Additional support includes phlebotomy, an IV/VAT team, respiratory therapy (24/7), on-site hospitalist during day shift (virtual evenings/overnight), and 24/7 intensivist coverage
- Telemetry monitoring is conducted remotely via telemetry technician
- EMR: Epic (minimum 6 months of experience required)
- IV pumps: Alaris; medication dispensing: Omnicell; Masimo monitors in all patient rooms
- 12-hour night shifts; shift times are 6:45 PM–7:15 AM
- Weekend rotation is every other weekend
- Schedule is set on a 6-week cycle
- Floating is required within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mountain, Lincoln, and Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH) per regional needs and within scope of practice — candidates who are not agreeable to this floating requirement should not apply
- Low census call is possible; RNs may be called off for an entire shift or placed on call until 3:00 AM or 3:00 PM
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active NC or compact RN license required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum 18 months of Med/Surg Tele RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
- Minimum 6 months of Epic EMR experience required
- Proficiency in cardiac rhythm interpretation and experience with non-titrating cardiac drips (e.g., Cardizem, Amiodarone)
- General Med/Surg skillset required, including care of patients with tubes/drains, IV insertion, blood product administration, and wound care/dressing changes
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
- Minimum one professional reference dated within the past year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
Additional Information
- Orientation includes a new employee orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation
- Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays
- Up to 6 days of time off may be approved, excluding holidays; any missed contracted hours must be made up by extending the contract
- Candidates who have previously worked a permanent position at an AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being considered
- Navy scrubs required
