Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a CVICU position requiring a minimum of 2 years of critical care experience and CVICU or open heart experience, with night shift availability.

Details

• Work in the Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) of an acute care hospital setting
• Patient population includes post open heart recovery, thoracotomies, esophagogastrectomies, and TAVR cases
• Patient ratios: 1:1 on nights, 2:1 on weekends
• Specialized procedures and equipment include ECMO, IABP, Impella, CRRT, LVAD/RVAD, pulmonary artery/Swan-Ganz monitoring, and arterial line management
• Documents using Epic; medications dispensed via Pyxis
• Night shift: 18:45–07:15 (3x12-hour shifts)
• Every other weekend required
• Floating is required
• 13-week contract minimum; longer contracts are available
• 36 or 48 hours per week may be available
• Local candidates are accepted

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of critical care (CC) experience required
• CVICU or open heart experience required
• Required skills include: interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, ECMO, IABP, post cardiac surgery care (direct from OR), Swan-Ganz/PA line monitoring, TAVR, LVAD/RVAD management, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care, continuous IV sedation, cardiac drip titration, ventilated patient care, ABG interpretation, and isolation precautions/PPE
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start

Additional Information

• Preferred skills include: port access and management, vasoactive drip titration, chest tube insertion/removal assistance, BiPAP/CPAP management, high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC), and ventilator management
• Self-scheduling unit
• Orientation includes hospital orientation during week one — candidate must be available for classes each day
• Navy and/or white scrubs required
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
