Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position at a comprehensive cancer center, requiring a minimum of 2 years of high-acuity Med/Surg Tele experience and an active OH or compact RN license.

Details

• Comprehensive cancer center with 318 acute care beds across specialized inpatient oncology units (36 beds per unit)
• Units are specialized by cancer diagnosis, including BMT, Acute Leukemia, Hematology, Medical Oncology, PCU Oncology, Gynecological Oncology, Urology, Colorectal, Surgical Oncology, and Corrections Healthcare
• Floating required across Med/Surg and PCU Oncology units
• PCU staffing ratio is 1:3, up to 1:4 with mixed acuity; Med/Surg Tele ratio is ideally 1:4, up to 1:5
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
• If accepting a 12D/N rotating contract, scheduling may include days, nights, or a combination based on department needs, reviewed every 4-week scheduling period
• Weekend scheduling is variable based on unit needs
• Self-scheduling requests are submitted for consideration prior to final schedule posting — no set or blocked scheduling is available
• Strong emphasis on infection prevention protocols and patient fall prevention

Requirements

• Active OH RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of high-acuity Med/Surg Tele experience or higher required
• Oncology experience preferred but not required
• 2 professional supervisor references from within the past 2 years
• Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained

Additional Information

• Orientation begins with the first week Mon–Fri on day shift, followed by 5 bedside orientation shifts across weeks 2 and 3, then independent practice
• No 30-day break between assignments is required to change representation at this facility (except for Sterile Processing Techs)
• Any time off or scheduling requests must be disclosed at the time of initial consideration
