Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac Medical ICU position in St. Louis, MO, requiring a minimum of 3 years of inpatient cardiac/medical ICU experience and active MO or compact RN licensure.

Details

  • Located in a 22-bed Cardiac Medical ICU at a Level 2 Trauma Center, Level 1 STEMI Center, and Joint Commission Comprehensive Stroke Center in St. Louis, MO
  • Patient population includes post-cardiac arrest, sepsis, respiratory failure (pneumonia, COVID, ARDS), GI bleed, DKA, PE, renal failure, liver failure, pancreatitis, overdose, suicidal ideations, and CIWA patients
  • Specialized equipment includes Impella, IABP, Prismax CRRT, Zoll internal cooling device, and Arctic Sun
  • EMR: Epic
  • Patient ratio is 1:2
  • Night shift schedule, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
  • 13-week contract with 36 or 48 hours per week
  • Every other weekend required
  • No on-call requirements
  • May float to stepdown units based on staffing needs

Requirements

  • Active RN license — must meet eligibility criteria for Missouri licensure or hold a current MO or compact state RN license
  • Valid U.S. Social Security Number required
  • Required certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and NIHSS
  • Preferred certification: TNCC
  • Minimum 3 years of inpatient Cardiac Medical ICU experience required
  • Experience recovering open-heart surgical patients directly from the OR (CVI) required
  • No gaps in employment of 90+ days within the past 12 months

Additional Information

  • Preferred experience includes medical ICU patients with a cardiac emphasis, including arrhythmias, STEMI, and post-arrest care
  • Night shift orientation takes place on day shift — candidates must be available the full orientation week
  • Flu vaccination or a Mercy-approved exemption is required for all travelers from November 1 through April 1; declinations are not accepted
  • Black scrubs required; hats, non-facility jackets/sweatshirts, and earbuds are not permitted
  • RTO of up to 5 days is allowed but must be made up during the assignment; only 1 holiday RTO request permitted per assignment
  • Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are eligible but subject to a reduced pay rate
  • Local candidates within 50 miles are limited to 3 consecutive 13-week contracts before a 1-year separation or reassignment outside the 50-mile radius is required
