Description
American Traveler is seeking a night shift RN for a Neuro Med/Surg unit at a Level 2 Trauma Center and Joint Commission Comprehensive Stroke Center in St. Louis, MO, requiring at least 1 year of inpatient Med/Surg experience.

- 8 East Neuro unit within a hospital setting recognized as a Level 2 Trauma Center and Joint Commission Comprehensive Stroke Center
- Night shift schedule: 1900–0730
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call requirements
- Floating required as needed to a similar or lower acuity unit
- EMR: Epic
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active RN license — must meet eligibility requirements for licensure in Missouri or hold a current MO or Compact RN license
- BLS certification from AHA required
- ACLS certification from AHA preferred
- Minimum 1 year of recent inpatient Med/Surg experience required
- Neuro experience preferred
- No employment gaps of 90 or more days within the past 12 months
- Valid U.S. Social Security Number required — Canadian SINs are not accepted
- Certifications must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment unless documented renewal is scheduled
Additional Information
- Provides direct patient care for all age groups including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
- Cares for patients post-trauma, post-surgical intervention, and with medical comorbidities
- Coordinates patient care activities with ancillary and other departments to optimize patient outcomes
- Physical demands include standing and walking most of the shift, frequent bending, stooping, lifting and turning patients with assistance, and pushing, pulling, and gripping up to 50 lbs.
- High-risk exposure to blood and body fluids
- Night shift orientation is conducted on day shift — candidates must be available the entire orientation week
- Black scrubs required
- RTO of up to 5 days is permitted but must be made up during the assignment; only 1 holiday RTO request is allowed per assignment
- Flu vaccination (or a Mercy-approved exemption) is required for all travelers from November 1 through April 1 — declinations are not accepted
- Local candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are eligible but subject to a reduced bill rate
- Candidates living within 50 miles of the facility are limited to 3 consecutive 13-week contracts before a minimum 1-year separation or relocation outside the 50-mile radius is required
