Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position at a Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital in Indiana, requiring a minimum of 18 months of experience and flexibility with weekend scheduling.

Details

• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
• 13-week contract
• Med/Surg unit serving a diverse surgical and trauma patient population including GSW, blunt trauma, stab wounds, MVC, falls, orthopedic injuries, ostomies, hernia repairs, skin flaps, significant wounds, and surgical drains
• Patient ratio of 1:5–6
• Travelers must be available to work 50% of weekends per contract based on unit needs
• Travelers may be required to float to different levels of care (Med/Surg, PCU, ICU) at both University and Methodist campuses, with resources provided
• Cerner EMR required
• Position is based at a Level 1 Trauma academic teaching hospital

Requirements

• Active IN or Compact RN license in hand (or fingerprint application submitted) is required
• BLS certification required (AHA or RQI accepted, must be current)
• Minimum 18 months to 2 years of RN experience required
• Level 1 Trauma experience preferred
• Cerner charting experience required
• Nursing degree from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited program required
• Must be comfortable precepting or having students shadow during assignment, as this is a teaching facility

• Former permanent or PRN employees of IU Health must have been separated for at least 12 months before being considered as a traveler
• Charge nurse responsibilities may be assigned based on operational needs; training and resources will be provided
• Travelers must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• Up to 5 days of RTO may be auto-approved
• Indiana RN travelers (non-compact) are not eligible for Med/Surg positions at IU Health facilities
