Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry Observation Unit position at an oncology-focused hospital, requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience and telemetry skills including dysrhythmia interpretation.
Details
- Observation/Med-Surg Telemetry Oncology unit (12N) within a cancer hospital and research center
- Patient population includes observation-status patients with anticipated short stays (up to two midnights), with a focus on efficient, high-quality care and timely disposition decisions
- Common diagnoses include dehydration and electrolyte abnormalities, nausea and vomiting, chemotherapy/radiation symptom management, acute kidney injury, palliative/pain control, UTI, syncope, post-procedure monitoring, hospice transitions, PEG tube/line placement, and fever of unknown origin
- Patients are stable and unlikely to require an upgrade in care; unit providers include APPs and supervising MDs
- Patient ratio is 1:4 with a charge nurse in assignment; additional resources include RNs, PCAs, and UCAs
- Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30
- May occasionally float to the facility's ED to assist with inpatient Med/Surg tele patients awaiting transfer to an acute care unit
Requirements
- Active OH RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
- Required certification: BLS
- Preferred certifications: ACLS, OCN
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Required skills: telemetry monitoring, Med/Surg telemetry care, dysrhythmia interpretation, IV insertion, and PICC line management
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Orientation to the ED will be provided prior to any float assignment
- Navy blue or white scrubs required; scrubs are not provided by the facility
- All time-off and scheduling requests must be submitted at the time of initial consideration
- No mandatory break between assignments is required when changing representation at this facility (exception: Sterile Processing Techs still require a 30-day break)
