Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Post-Surgical Care (Med/Surg Tele) position at a Trauma Level III teaching hospital in Concord, NC, requiring at least 18 months of Med/Tele experience and a NC or compact RN license.

Details

• Post-surgical care unit with 28 beds in a 457-bed Trauma Level III teaching hospital
• Patient population includes orthopedic surgery, spine surgery, trauma, vascular surgery, and medical overflow cases
• Patient ratios are typically 1:4–6, with surge ratios up to 1:7–8
• EMR is Epic; experience preferred
• Equipment includes BD Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Philips and Masimo monitors; remote telemetry monitoring is in use
• 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM), 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend rotation required
• Floating may be required to other facilities within the region, including Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, and Central Division locations
• No on-call requirements

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 18 months of Med/Surg Tele RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
• General post-surgical skills required, including incision care, wound care/wound vacs, chest tubes, drains, trach care, NG tube insertion, mobility assistance, patient education, and use of braces/traction
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
• At least 1 professional reference dated within the past year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN, required for consideration
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted

Additional Information

• Unit support includes CNAs (phlebotomy, ADLs, Foley insertion/removal), an IV/VAT team, a dedicated mentor, RT and hospitalist coverage 24/7, a house supervisor, and behavioral/rapid response teams
• Orientation includes a facility-level NEO and 2 days of departmental orientation
• Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays
• Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; any shortfall in contracted hours must be made up at the end of the contract
• 6-week scheduling cycles
• Navy scrubs required

• Former permanent employees of any AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being eligible
• First-time travelers are not preferred but will be considered
