Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Pediatric RN for a 13-week night shift contract at an acute care hospital in Decatur, IL, requiring a minimum of 2 years of pediatric experience and an active IL RN license.

Details

• Pediatric unit with 11 rooms and 16 beds in an acute care hospital setting
• Level II Trauma Center with 372 staffed beds
• Patients include a wide range of pediatric medical-surgical and step-down/telemetry cases
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (1800–0630)
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call responsibilities
• Floating within scope is required, including to nearby affiliate hospitals
• Cerner EMR (experience required)
• Free parking available with a permit obtained during orientation

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required; active application with ETA accepted
• Current BLS and PALS certifications required (AHA or Red Cross accepted; RQI AHA cards not accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of pediatric nursing experience required
• Experience in Pediatric Med-Surg and Pediatric Step-Down/Telemetry settings required
• Endocrine/metabolic skills: hyperbilirubinemia management and insulin administration
• GI skills: breastfeeding support and breast milk handling, bottle/breast/gavage feedings, placement of oral/nasogastric tubes
• IV therapy skills: peripheral line care and management, starting and maintaining IVs
• Medication skills: pediatric dosage calculations
• Respiratory skills: oral/nasal suctioning and oxygen delivery systems
• Clinical skills: infection prevention, isolation precautions, and wound assessment/care
• SSN and DOB required for consideration

• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates are accepted with no radius restriction
• Any permanent or PRN employee of the Memorial Hospital System must have been separated for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler
• Travel pairs are not accepted at this facility
• RTO of up to 5 days is ideally requested; requests beyond 5 days require facility approval
• Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• Any schedule or time-off requests should be communicated upfront
• Solid-color scrubs of any color are acceptable
• 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years are required
