Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced OR Circulator RN for an Outpatient Surgery position requiring at least 1 year of intraoperative circulator experience and an active GA or compact RN license.
Details
- Outpatient Surgery unit in a hospital setting
- Patient population spans pediatrics to geriatrics
- Surgical specialties include retina surgery, total hip/knee replacement, hand surgery, breast oncology, breast reconstruction, ENT, laparoscopic cholecystectomy, hernia repair, and podiatry
- Patient ratio of 1:4 with an average daily census of 18 patients across 5 rooms
- EMR: Epic; medication dispensing via Pyxis
- Schedule alternates between a 5-day week (6:30 AM–3:00 PM) and a 4-day week (8:30 AM–5:00 PM), totaling 72 hours per two-week period
- No weekend requirements
- Floating is rare but may occur within the facility and scope of practice as needed
- No formal on-call requirement; however, RNs may be asked to stay late based on remaining room assignments at shift end
Requirements
- Active GA RN license or compact RN license required
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum 1 year of OR circulator experience in the intraoperative setting required
- Two supervisory references (manager level or above; charge nurses not accepted) are highly preferred
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates are accepted
- Scrubs are provided by the facility
- RTO maximum is 7 days for the assignment; RTO cannot be requested during the first week of the assignment
- RTO blackout period: Spring Break (April 4–12)
- Holiday coverage is required: if one or two major holidays fall within the assignment period, the traveler is expected to work all of them; if three major holidays fall within the assignment period, the traveler is expected to work two — major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
- Travelers must have been away from all facilities within this health system for at least one full year before returning as a traveler
- No schedule change requests or alternate shift requests are permitted — the posted schedule is firm
- Full compliance with onboarding requirements must be completed on time to avoid a two-week start date delay
- Candidates with prior history at any facility within this health system should disclose that history
