Description

American Traveler is hiring a Clinical Instructor Cardiac Sonographer with 5+ years of experience, requiring both adult and pediatric echo credentials and prior teaching or precepting experience.

Details

• Acute care hospital setting within a large integrated health system
• Role is oriented toward clinical education, staff onboarding, competency validation, and quality improvement
• Patient population includes both adult and pediatric echocardiography cases
• Procedures include TTE, TEE, stress echocardiography (pharmacologic and treadmill), structural heart imaging (TAVR, MitraClip, interventional guidance), congenital heart disease imaging, and hemodynamic/Doppler assessment
• Equipment includes PACS
• Epic charting experience preferred
• 5x8-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
• Floating required to other facilities within the health system, including Glenbrook, Skokie, Highland Park, and Evanston locations

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of cardiac sonography experience
• Active ARDMS RDCS-AE or CCI RCS credential (adult echo) required
• Active ARDMS RDCS-PE credential (pediatric echo) required
• Current BLS certification required
• Prior clinical education, precepting, or lead/charge sonographer experience required
• Prior travel experience required
• Independent proficiency in TTE, TEE, congenital heart disease imaging, structural heart imaging, and stress echocardiography required
• Experience with adult and pediatric acute care echocardiography required
• Strong acute care hospital background required
• License required if applicable
• SSN and DOB required for consideration
• 2 professional references preferred

Additional Information

• This position is designed for a sonographer with interest in leadership and teaching growth, supporting education partnerships and quality improvement initiatives
• Responsibilities include mentoring and training staff and students, competency validation, and onboarding support
• An EKG test is required and must be completed within the first day; a passing score of 84% or higher on the first attempt is required
• Candidates with background hits may be considered on a case-by-case basis
• Local candidates are accepted with no radius requirement
• Former permanent staff must observe a 1-year waiting period before returning as a traveler
• RTO must be submitted upfront; a maximum of 10 days RTO is allowed and requests submitted after the initial offer will not be accepted
