Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a float ICU/PCU position at a Level I Trauma Center, requiring Epic proficiency and comfort working across all ICU and PCU units.

Details

• Float position covering all ICU and PCU units within an acute care teaching hospital
• Large, 703-bed Level I Trauma Center (Adult & Pediatric) with Magnet designation for nursing excellence
• Affiliated with Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine; certified as an Advanced Thrombectomy Capable Stroke Center
• ICU patient ratio averages 2:1; PCU patient ratio averages 5:1
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
• Staffing needs are re-evaluated every 4 hours, meaning travelers may float 2–3 times per shift
• Weekend requirement: every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling block
• One holiday shift required per 13-week contract
• Epic EMR experience required
• Clinical skills required include arterial line and central/PICC line management, blood product administration, BiPAP/CPAP and ventilator management, continuous IV sedation and vasoactive drip titration, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, surgical wound care with drains and wound vacs, and IV insulin protocol adherence

Requirements

• Active VA state RN license or Compact RN license; pending license accepted only for candidates holding a single-state license from a non-compact state
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS required; CPI preferred
• Minimum 2 years of ICU nursing experience preferred
• Experience at a large Level I or Level II trauma facility required
• Level I Trauma experience preferred
• Proficiency with Epic EMR required
• Skilled in IV therapy, arterial/central/PICC line management, vasoactive and cardiac drip titration, ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP management, and dysrhythmia interpretation
• Two professional references required for consideration
• PDF copies of Driver's License and Social Security Card required for consideration
