Description

American Traveler is seeking a travel RN for an Inpatient Rehab position in Corpus Christi, TX, working night shifts with a minimum of 1 year of recent rehab experience.

Details

• Inpatient Rehab unit located on the 3rd floor of an acute care hospital in Corpus Christi, TX
• 15-bed unit operating at capacity with 18 staff members
• Patient ratio is 5:1, with a maximum of 6:1
• Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• 13-week contract
• Equipment used includes vital signs machines, Hoyer lift, sliding boards, EKG machines, and bladder scanners
• EMR system is Meditech; Pyxis used for medication dispensing
• Floating required to Med-Surg, Tele, Renal, Urology, Orthopedic, and Overflow units across two hospital campuses (Bay Area and DRMC); ICU is excluded from float pool
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday coverage required
• On-call is seldom required, typically only when overall hospital census is low

Requirements

• Active TX RN license or compact RN license required
• BLS certification required (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start)
• Minimum 1 year of recent inpatient RN experience
• Proficiency in patient transfer techniques is required
• EMR proficiency required
• Rehab nursing experience preferred
• Experience with rehab scoring documentation preferred
• US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
• One professional reference required
• No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months

Additional Information

• Daily responsibilities include patient transfers, bladder scans, dressing changes, and medication administration
• Unit practices include bedside report/handoff, hourly rounding, and bed alarm activation
• Collaborative team environment — candidates with strong teamwork skills and initiative are the best fit
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not eligible
• No previous employment gaps of 90 days or more in the past 12 months
