Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an IMC/Stepdown/PCU position at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital in Illinois, requiring an active IL RN license and a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.

Details

  • Position is in the Intermediate Care/Stepdown/PCU unit of a 562-bed, Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital in Springfield, IL
  • Day shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM
  • Every other weekend required
  • Floating within the hospital and to nearby affiliate hospitals is required of all travelers
  • Block scheduling available — discuss with manager
  • No on-call requirements
  • Charts in Cerner (experience preferred)
  • Handles a complex patient population including cardiac, neurological, respiratory, orthopedic, and post-surgical cases
  • Performs advanced skills including arterial line management, central/PICC line care, vasoactive and cardiac drip titration, procedural sedation, tracheostomy management, ventilator care, and chest tube management
  • Manages pre/post cardiac procedures including cath, angiogram, cardiac surgery, and sheath/TR Band removal
  • Neurological cases include CVA, TBI, craniotomy, spinal cord injury, and pre/post neurosurgery
  • Respiratory care includes HFNC, CPAP/BiPAP, ABG interpretation, and non-invasive airway management

Requirements

  • Active IL RN license required — pending licensure not accepted
  • Current BLS and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required; ACLS preferred
  • AHA or Red Cross certifications accepted; RQI AHA cards are not accepted
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a Telemetry, Neuro Stepdown, PCU, DOU, IMC, or Stepdown setting required
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Level I Trauma experience preferred
  • Cerner EMR experience preferred
  • SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

  • First-time travelers are not eligible for this position
  • Current or former permanent or PRN employees of the Memorial Hospital System must have been separated for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler
  • RTO of up to 5 days is generally accommodated; requests beyond 5 days require facility approval
  • Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
  • Travel pairs are not accepted
  • Parking is available at no cost with a permit obtained during orientation
  • Scrub color: any solid color
  • Local candidates are accepted with no radius restriction
  • 2 professional supervisory references from the past 2 years required for consideration
