Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU/Stepdown) position requiring telemetry experience and cardiac drip titration skills, working 12-hour night shifts at a Level III trauma facility.
Details
- Acute care PCU/Stepdown unit at a Level III trauma facility
- Common patient population includes cardiac, post-cath/pacer, pneumonia, COVID, ETOH withdrawal, and ICU downgrades — no open heart cases
- Patient ratios of 8-9 patients with nurse aide support available
- RNs are required to titrate drips including insulin, heparin, cardizem, nitro, amiodarone, dopamine, and dobutamine — no pressors or sedation
- Remote telemetry support available via central monitoring unit with monitor techs to assist; basic rhythm interpretation experience is ideal
- 12-hour night shifts (1730–0615)
- Every other weekend required, with scheduling flexibility based on unit needs
- Holiday coverage required
- No on-call or standby requirement
- Floating is not required, but may be requested if skill set allows and RN agrees
- EMR: Epic
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active Oregon (OR) RN license required
- Current certifications: BLS and ACLS
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Telemetry experience required
- Cardiac drip titration experience required (excluding pressors and sedation)
- Basic cardiac rhythm interpretation skills required
Additional Information
- Unit orientation consists of 1-2 shifts depending on experience and prior familiarity with the facility
- Charge nurse is present in the department and takes patients at a lower ratio when available; hospital supervisor on site 24/7
- No specific scrub color requirement — clean and professional attire expected
- BSN is not required for this position
