Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Oncology night shift position requiring BLS and NIHSS certifications with a minimum of 1 year of RN experience.

Details

• 36-bed Med/Surg Oncology unit located on the 5th floor of a hospital setting
• Primarily adult oncology patients, ages 45–65
• Patient ratio of 1:5–6 (subject to change based on facility needs)
• Floating to the Ortho Med/Surg/Telemetry unit is required as needed
• Equipment includes Alaris pumps and Hercules beds
• Epic EHR experience preferred
• 12-hour night shifts, 36 hours per week
• Required to work every other weekend and major holidays
• Support staff includes 2–3 CNAs per shift and 24/7 phlebotomy services

Requirements

• Active RN license (VA or Compact) currently in hand
• Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• 6 months of acute care RN experience preferred
• Must pass an EKG exam at orientation (2 attempts allowed; study guide available)
• Proof of address required for consideration (e.g., Driver's License, Voter Registration card, Federal Tax Return, Military Form No. 2058, or W2 from US government)
• 1 supervisory reference required for consideration
• Full SSN and DOB required for consideration
• Copy of certifications required for consideration

Additional Information

• Conducts patient assessments, develops and implements individualized care plans, and evaluates treatment effectiveness
• Serves as the primary point of contact for care coordination across hospital departments and with family members or caregivers
• Administers medications in accordance with state practice standards and facility policies
• Acts as a patient safety advocate through participation in ongoing quality improvement initiatives
• Navy blue and white scrubs required
