Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry & Urology unit position requiring at least 2 years of experience and a valid NH or compact RN license.

Details

  • Work is performed on a 48-bed Med/Surg unit (E200) within the main hospital building, Level E
  • Unit serves a mixed medical/surgical patient population including telemetry monitoring and urology cases
  • Patient ratios are 1:5 on days and 1:6 on nights
  • Unit support staff includes a unit secretary (7a–11p) and PCTs at a 1:10–15 ratio, with occasional 1:1 PCT or patient safety tech coverage
  • Equipment in use includes Hoyer lift, automated BP machines, bladder scanner, remote telemetry monitoring, and vein finder
  • Documentation is performed in Altera/Allscripts Sunrise (Sunrise Clinical Manager)
  • Shift hours are 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (12-hour nights)
  • Every other weekend (EOW) required
  • Travelers are generally expected to float first to like Med/Surg Tele units (D1, F2)

Requirements

  • Active NH or compact RN license required
  • Current BLS certification required (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of assignment start)
  • Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg or Telemetry RN experience required
  • Proficiency in head-to-toe assessment and orthopedic care
  • IV medication administration experience required, including management of Lasix drip, heparin drip, IVP metoprolol, diltiazem, and insulin (IV and SubQ)
  • Experience with wound care including drain management and wound VACs
  • Competency with NGT/G-tube care and parenteral nutrition
  • Central line management experience required (PICC, HD catheter, midlines)
  • Experience with foley, nephrostomy, and suprapubic catheter care
  • Ostomy care and postoperative patient care experience required
  • US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
  • One professional reference required (two required for candidates from Florida or Missouri)
  • No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months

Additional Information

  • NGT insertions are performed on this unit
  • Participation in daily multidisciplinary rounds (MDRs) on day shift Monday–Friday is expected when applicable to shift overlap
  • The unit features a collaborative team environment with strong staff retention and an active Unit Practice Council (UPC) meeting monthly
  • The facility is part of the HCA Healthcare family; familiarity with HCA systems is a plus
  • No specific scrub color required; closed-toe shoes required (no Crocs)
  • Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible for this position
