Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Step-Down/Intermediate Care position at a short-term acute care hospital, requiring telemetry, cardiac, and stroke experience on a night shift schedule.
Details
- Step-Down/Intermediate Care unit (MS 7th Floor) at a short-term acute care hospital
- Patient population includes cardiac, stroke, and renal patients requiring intermediate-level monitoring
- Patient ratio of 1:4
- Cardiac drip experience required, with exposure to drips such as Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, and Lasix
- Hemodialysis-capable beds on unit; HD services provided by an outside company
- All modes of oxygenation utilized except ventilators
- Charting via Cerner
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
- Every other weekend required
- Every other holiday required
- Floating required to like or lesser units based on facility needs
Requirements
- Active Indiana RN license or valid Compact RN license required prior to start date
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required; 2 years preferred
- Telemetry and cardiac/stroke experience required
- Cardiac drip experience required
- Must pass a telemetry rhythm identification quiz prior to placement
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
- 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
- Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration
Additional Information
- Nurses must be proficient in reading, identifying, and reacting to cardiac rhythms, as this is a true cardiac floor where rhythm recognition is critical to patient safety
- All time-off and scheduling requests must be submitted at the time of initial application
- Scrub color requirement: Royal Blue or White
- Free overnight parking available in the associate-designated garage; free parking also available in designated outside lots
