Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a high-acuity CVICU position at a Magnet, Level I Trauma teaching hospital, requiring a minimum of 2 years of Cardiac/CVICU experience and a valid MO or Compact RN license.

Details

• High-acuity CVICU setting within a large, short-term acute care hospital (1,266 beds)
• Magnet-designated and teaching hospital located in a Level I Trauma Center
• Patient population includes acute heart failure, CHF exacerbation, cardiogenic shock, post-cardiac arrest, complete heart block, pre-heart transplant, arrhythmias, and ventricular tachycardia
• Patient ratio is 1:2
• Specialized procedures and equipment include ventilator management, arterial line management, pulmonary artery (PA) catheter monitoring, pacemakers, Impella, intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABP), LVADs, vasoactive drips, central lines, TVP catheter monitoring, dialysis, and Foley catheters
• Charting is performed in Epic
• Night shift schedule: 4x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirements
• Floating within the cardiovascular service line may be required to meet facility needs

Requirements

• Active MO RN license or Compact RN license required; pending IL license may be considered
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of Cardiac/CVICU experience required
• Experience with ventilator management, arterial lines, PA catheters, LVADs, Impella, and intra-aortic balloon pumps required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position

Additional Information

• Navy blue scrubs are required
• Must pass a Relias EKG exam prior to or at the start of the assignment
• RTO is limited to a maximum of 5 days (40 hours) for the duration of the contract, with no more than 7 days per 13-week period; no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
• Former permanent employees of the BJC health system must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Travelers may work at BJC facilities for up to 18 months, after which a 3-month break in service is required
• Parking passes are available for purchase through the facility's Public Safety department; night shift workers park at no charge in designated employee parking
