Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Radiation Oncology Procedural role requiring a minimum of 1-2 years of procedural experience and an active MA RN license.
Details
- Procedural nursing role within a Radiation Oncology department at a major academic medical center in Boston
- Patient population consists primarily of adult oncology patients undergoing brachytherapy and external beam radiation treatments
- RNs with PALS certification and pediatric training may have the opportunity to care for pediatric patients as well
- Uses Epic for charting
- 40-hour per week position with rotating shifts of 6:30–5:00, 7:00–5:30, or 7:30–6:00 PM, Monday through Friday
- Department hours are 6:30 AM–7:00 PM; no weekend shifts indicated
Requirements
- Active MA RN license required; no pending or conditional licenses accepted
- All certifications must be AHA-issued
- Minimum 1–2 years of procedural nursing experience required
- 3–5 years of general nursing experience required
- Brachytherapy or radiation oncology experience strongly preferred
- Flu vaccine required; no religious or medical exemptions accepted
- 2 professional references required for consideration
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include patient assessment, preparation, procedural assistance, and post-procedure recovery for patients undergoing brachytherapy and external beam treatments
- Provides patient and family education along with psychosocial and emotional support before, during, and after treatment
- Performs Point of Care Testing and other procedures as ordered
- Functions as part of a multidisciplinary care team requiring strong communication and collaboration skills
- Time keeping is managed through UKG/Kronos
- No validated parking available at Boston locations; public parking lots are available nearby at the traveler's expense; public transportation is accessible
- This is a 16–20 week contract due to onboarding requirements
- Candidates with a permanent residence within 60 miles of the facility are considered local and may be subject to an adjusted pay rate
- Any requested time off (RTO) must be disclosed at the time of consideration
