Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PCU/Stepdown position on a 33-bed cardiac telemetry unit, requiring a minimum of 2 years of RN experience and ACLS certification.

Details

• PCU/Stepdown unit (1W) in a hospital setting with 33 beds
• Patient population includes cardiac telemetry, vascular, med-surg, post-cath, and post-pacemaker patients
• Patient ratios are 1:4-5 on days and 1:5-6 on nights, acuity dependent
• Lines and devices include PICCs, dialysis catheters, PEG tubes, ostomies, foleys, chest tubes, NG tubes, tube feedings (Kangaroo pumps), and wound vacs
• Airway management includes trachs, BiPAP, CPAP, heated high flow, high flow, and nasal cannulas — no ventilators
• Drips include Cardizem, Amio, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Lasix, Heparin, and Insulin; PCA pumps used for pain management
• Ancillary support includes 1–3 PCAs and a unit secretary depending on census, with phlebotomy available for lab draws
• EMR: Epic (training preferred)
• 12-hour PM (night) shifts, every other weekend, every other holiday
• 13–16 week contract

Requirements

• Active OH RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for travel rates
• Proof of address required (e.g., Driver's License, Voter Registration card, Federal Tax Return, Military Form DD-2058, or W-2)
• Full SSN and DOB (MM/DD) required for consideration
• 1 supervisory reference required
• Copy of certifications required
• Nursys license verification required

Additional Information

• Nurses are required to read and verify telemetry strips once per shift in Epic
• A pass/fail EKG/Dysrhythmia exam is administered on the first day with two attempts allowed; a study guide will be provided
• Responsibilities include conducting patient assessments, developing and implementing plans of care, administering medications, and coordinating care across the interdisciplinary team
• Manages patients with multi-system organ failure and/or multisystem trauma using clinical judgment and evidence-based practice
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Holiday coverage required on assigned holidays (every other holiday)
