Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift Med/Surg position in Birmingham, AL, requiring a minimum of 2 years of acute care experience and an active AL or compact RN license.

Details

• Work setting is a 24-bed General Medicine unit within an acute care hospital
• General medicine patient population with a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Cerner EMR is used; experience required
• BCMA (Barcode Medication Administration) experience required
• Night shift: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirements
• Floating to other units within the acute care division is required
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active AL RN license or valid compact RN license, currently in hand with no disciplinary actions
• Current AHA certifications required: BLS and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of recent acute care experience required
• Cerner EMR experience required
• BCMA experience required
• Candidate must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
• SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide general medicine nursing care including medication administration, interdisciplinary communication, and adherence to clinical processes
• Strong time management and adaptability skills expected in a fast-paced acute care environment
• The facility is a 595-bed Joint Commission-accredited hospital recognized for stroke care, cardiovascular services, bariatrics, surgical care, and psychiatry
• The facility holds Primary Stroke Center certification and Get With the Guidelines® Gold Plus Achievement in Stroke from the American Heart Association
• Navy blue scrubs required; closed-toe shoes with backs required; fingernails must comply with TJC and CMS guidelines
• All certifications must be issued by the American Heart Association (AHA); American Red Cross certifications are not accepted
• Local candidates are not accepted; candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
