Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PACU position in an acute care hospital setting, requiring ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications with a preference for Same Day Surgery experience.

Details

• Work in the PACU and Same Day Admission Unit (SADU) of an acute care hospital
• Patient population includes orthopedic, general surgery, GYN, and ENT outpatient cases
• SADU bed capacity is 8; PACU bed capacity is 10
• Patient ratios are 2:1, with 1:1 care required at times
• EMR system is Epic
• Schedule is four 10-hour day shifts (9:00 AM–7:30 PM) per week
• Call is required: 3 weeknight call shifts (7:30 PM–7:00 AM, with the following day off) per month, plus one 24-hour weekend call per month
• Occasional holiday coverage required
• Occasional floating required as helping hands
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active WA state or Compact (NLC) RN license — must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted
• Current and active certifications required: ACLS, BLS, and PALS — pending certifications not accepted
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Same Day Surgery (pre- and post-op) experience strongly preferred
• BSN not required
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provides pre- and post-anesthesia care in both the PACU and SADU, as nurses work across both areas
• Three rotating charge nurses are present daily — one assigned to SADU and one to PACU
• One full-time nurse aide supports the unit
• Orientation is individualized and assessed based on each RN's needs and experience
• Scrubs are provided by the facility
• Candidates who have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facility within the past year are not eligible — candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
