Description

American Traveler is seeking a licensed Physical Therapist with 2+ years of experience for a 13-week home health assignment in Gassaway, WV, working Monday through Friday with no weekend or holiday requirements.

Details

• Home health care setting; all patients are seen in their homes across multiple counties in West Virginia
• Coverage area spans up to 8 counties (Braxton, Gilmer, Calhoun, Nicholas, Webster, Clay, Randolph, and Pocahontas); mileage and county assignments will be coordinated based on where the therapist is living
• Patient caseload of 5–6 units per day, with visit types including start of care (SOC), discharge, recertification, and regular visits
• Common diagnoses include general orthopedic conditions (hips, knees), generalized weakness, strengthening, and cardiac rehab
• Charting is done in Epic; a positive, open attitude toward learning the system is expected
• Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM; 8-hour shifts
• Self-scheduling is allowed; therapists may adjust patient scheduling by area as long as initial and reassessment guidelines are met
• No weekend or holiday requirements

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of physical therapy experience required
• Current BLS certification required
• Must meet all PT licensure requirements for practicing in the state of West Virginia; license required if applicable
• Valid driver's license required
• 2 supervisor/peer references required (1 supervisor, 1 peer or additional supervisor); if the candidate worked a permanent position within the last 12 months, one supervisor reference must be from that facility
• Skills checklist completed within the past year required
• 7-year work history (or from graduation, whichever is less) with no gaps greater than 30 days required for consideration

Additional Information

• Orientation takes place at the Gassaway office and focuses on Epic documentation; orientation is tailored to each clinician's needs and is expected to be completed as quickly as possible for travel contracts
• Supervised by PT Managers Kelli Gregory and Lacy Hamrick; team includes 4 PTAs
• Required dress code is navy scrubs or khaki bottoms with a navy polo
• Candidates must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for the travel pay rate
• Travelers who have previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a 2-year break before being considered; cumulative experience applies and travelers may not work within the WVU system for longer than one year total before requiring a 2-year break
• Candidates may only be submitted to one WVU facility at a time
