Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Oncology unit (8 East) night shift position in St. Louis, MO, requiring at least 1 year of inpatient Med/Surg experience and an active MO or compact RN license.
Details
- Inpatient oncology unit (8 East) within a hospital setting that is also a Level 2 Trauma Center, Joint Commission Comprehensive Stroke Center, and Level 1 STEMI Center
- Patient population includes oncology, neuro overflow, general medical, and end-of-life patients
- Patient ratio of 1:5 or 1:6
- Equipment used includes Alaris pumps, NOVA glucometers, and remote telemetry
- EMR: Epic
- Night shift, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- 13-week contract
- No more than every other weekend required; weekend shifts scheduled based on unit needs
- On-call required as needed per facility policy
- Floating required as needed to any unit within the Med/Surg service line
Requirements
- Active RN license — must meet eligibility requirements for licensure in Missouri or hold a current MO or compact RN license
- BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required
- Minimum 1 year of recent inpatient Med/Surg experience required
- Proficiency in medication administration, EMR documentation, and physical assessment required
- Valid U.S. Social Security Number required
- No gaps in employment of 90 or more days within the past 12 months
- Ability to stand and walk for most of the shift; must be able to lift, push, pull, and grip up to 50 lbs., and perform bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling as needed
- No expiring certifications within the first 30 days of the assignment unless documentation of scheduled renewal is provided
Additional Information
- Preferred experience: 1 year of oncology nursing experience and ONS Chemotherapy Certification
- Provides direct patient care utilizing the nursing process — assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation — for patients across all age groups
- Coordinates patient care activities with ancillary and other departments to optimize outcomes
- Night shift orientation takes place on day shift; candidate must be available the entire week for orientation
- Flu vaccination or a Mercy-approved exemption is required for all travelers from November 1 through April 1; declinations are not accepted
- RTO of up to 5 days may be allowed but must be made up during the assignment; only 1 holiday RTO request allowed per assignment
- Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are eligible but subject to a reduced bill rate
- Black scrubs required
- Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are limited to 3 consecutive 13-week contracts before a 1-year separation or reassignment outside the 50-mile radius is required
